Your investment club, in a private group chat
Most club tools handle the paperwork. This one handles the argument about what to buy, and whether the last idea worked.
Free on iPhone. No invite needed. Not a broker, no pooled account.
How a club uses it
The discussion, in one place, with the numbers in it.
One private thread
Invite-only, no public feed. Mention a ticker with a $ and a live card appears in the conversation.

Top Performers logs every ticker the club raised at that moment's price, ranked by what it has done since, with who raised it.

Each member gets $100,000 in simulated money at real prices, so an idea can be tried before the club acts on it.
Join the beta ›Simulated portfolios
Run the idea before the club funds it.
Every member has a practice account. A proposal can be carried for a few months and judged against the index rather than against everyone's memory of it. If the club is not formed yet, start with how to start an investment club.
- $100,000 each, simulated, at real market prices.
- Measured against the S&P 500 over the same period.
- Every order dated and priced, so the record survives the retelling.
The Summary tab. Illustrative example, simulated money.
Positions
Track your simulated portfolio.
Seven columns, all sortable, with today's move kept separate from the total so a good day inside a bad position is still legible.
- Ticker, Value, Today G/L and Total G/L across the first four columns, with the ticker pinned while you scroll.
- Shares, Avg cost and Last sit to the right of them. Swipe the table sideways to reach them.
- Tap any column header to sort, or tap a row for the individual lots and full position detail.
- Unrealized only, so closed positions do not flatter the table. Realized gains live in Activity.
Positions, sorted by value.
Activity
A record you cannot quietly rewrite.
Every stock order is dated and priced. It is the part that makes practice worth anything, because it is hard to remember a call as smarter than it was when the timestamp is sitting right there.
- Every order, grouped by day, with the price you got.
- Realized gains on the sells that closed a position.
- Orders that did not go through are kept too, not hidden.
Activity, grouped by day.
The chat
The reasoning sits next to the trade.
Say a ticker with a dollar sign and a live card drops straight into the thread. The call, the argument about it and the price at the time all end up in the same place.
- Type $NVDA and the card appears inline, with the price, the chart and how far it has run since whoever said it first.
- Real bubbles, reactions and replies, so it still feels like the group chat you already have with these people.
- Invite-only, with no public feed and nothing for strangers to discover.
A ticker card inline in the thread.
FAQ
Reasonable questions.
What is an investment club?
A group of people who pool money, research and decisions, and invest together. Most are small, run as partnerships, meet monthly, and vote on what to buy. The point is usually as much about learning together as it is about returns.
How do investment clubs work?
Members agree a fixed contribution, usually monthly, into a shared account. Someone presents an idea, the group discusses it and votes, and the club buys through a single brokerage account held in the club's name. Each member owns a share proportional to what they have put in, and a written agreement covers how decisions get made and how someone leaves.
Are investment clubs legal?
Yes, and they are common. The questions that need real advice are how the club is structured and whether its membership interests count as securities, which depends on whether every member genuinely participates in decisions. The SEC publishes an investor bulletin on clubs. Talk to a lawyer before pooling real money; this is not legal advice.
How do investment clubs make money?
The same way any investor does, through gains and dividends on what the club holds. In a partnership the club itself usually pays no tax, and gains pass through to members to report individually. That is a question for an accountant rather than for us.
Can the club invest real money through StockChat?
No. StockChat is not a broker and places no trades. Clubs that pool real money still need a brokerage account and, in most cases, a partnership agreement. StockChat covers the discussion and the record of it, not the accounting.
Does it rank members against each other?
No. The Top Performers list ranks tickers by how much they have moved since they were first mentioned in the thread, along with who raised each one and when. It is a record of the discussion rather than a scoreboard of people.
What does it cost?
Nothing during the beta. There is no invite needed and no card to add.
Give the club somewhere to argue properly.
Install TestFlight, install StockChat, start a group and send the members the link. Invite-only, and nobody outside it can find the thread.
